Waving Goodbye to Hegemony


In Parag Khanna's thought provoking analysis on America's place amidst the rising European and Chinese Powers, the U.S. hegemony of the world will soon give way to a new "Big Three." Meanwhile the second world nations will act as a geopolitical marketplace in deciding who will lead in the 21st century. Somewhat of a reality check for thinking globally:
"...nothing has brought about the erosion of American primacy faster than globalization. While European nations redistribute wealth to secure or maintain first-world living standards, on the battlefield of globalization second-world countries’ state-backed firms either outhustle or snap up American companies, leaving their workers to fend for themselves. The second world’s first priority is not to become America but to succeed by any means necessary."
Also included at the end are some practical approaches which American foreign policy could take to help the nation move in the right direction globally. I also think there is a good argument in here for getting out of Iraq as soon as possible.
